So Graceland is really great in the fact that we have a lot of clubs and organizations. But the great part about that is that it's really student led. A lot of students here are involved in many things. Everybody's unique. And so we just get to bond with different people from different parts of the campus. When I was in high school, I was not involved in anything. And so it was a complete shift when I got here because I immediately jumped into things. And I had a great experience with it, we put on events. And this one event in particular, which you'll learn about when you get here, New Year's in November. It was a complete success, and I loved being a part of it. It was just so amazing. And I just wanted to keep seeking that feeling since I've been here. And so I kept doing things and kept getting involved to feel that feeling.
Inspired me to use my voice to you know, to amplify everyone else's becoming the IDEA President means a lot just because I found out more about myself than I did before. IDEA is Inclusion, Diversity Equity Alliance. So our purpose is to basically spread Diversity Awareness across campus and also deals with inclusion and equity as well. By doing so, we're learning in open air, being open minded with new ideas, and then also making sure that everyone is being heard, especially like underrepresented individuals here.
It's so incredibly important to get involved at Graceland. It really is just being there showing up and welcoming kind of the uncomfortable-ness that comes with leadership. And it has developed me so much of being a leader now working full time for the university and of the sponsoring church or the community of Christ.
