As a leader at Graceland, I've gotten to dip my toe into so many different things. Even on my first day of campus, they wanted me to get involved and to be a part of the campus culture. And I think that says a lot about what Graceland is and what it means to students that our campus is very student led student driven, inclusive. So one of my favorite things we do is House meetings every Tuesday night. As a house president this year, I get to lead those meetings, and I got to build an entire community and a culture with the people that I care about. And so that has been absolutely life changing for me.
I believe that Graceland has really inspired me to use my voice to you know, to amplify everyone else's becoming the Idea President means a lot just because I found out more about myself than I did before. Ideas; inclusion, diversity, equity alliances. So our purpose is to basically spread Diversity Awareness across campus and also deals with inclusion and equity as well. By doing so, we're lending an open ear, being open minded with new ideas, and then also making sure that everyone is being heard, especially like underrepresented individuals here.
It's so incredibly important to get involved at Graceland. It really is just being there showing up and welcoming and kind of the uncomfortableness that comes with leadership. And it has developed me so much of being a leader now working full-time for the university and of the sponsoring Church of the Community of Christ.
