For me, it's imperative to ensure that the students have opportunities to fill a resume as a student in order to apply for an internship in order to get a job. The experiential learning part is just a piece of the education in order to progress in the industry. So the more hands on, or the more experiential learning opportunities that we can give them as they leave Graceland, the more opportunities that are that they become eligible for. Because of what they've done experientially as opposed to what they've done in the classroom just taking classes.
So some of the hands on opportunities I've been able to do on here-- One of them is an internship I had the opportunity to do as a sophomore, I interned Wisco Path. who's actually associated with Graceland. I got to work with the VP of communication while I was there, it was a 14 week program-- I got to revamp their whole entire internal communication platform. I got to network. I got to present for the executive board and actually the Board of Trustees of Graceland. So it was a really big opportunity for me. I definitely have gained a lot of confidence through all of my communication classes, giving presentations pretty much every two weeks. Through talking to potential students, going out and doing internships, having to meet people that I'm not used to meeting has definitely made me more confident. It's a great opportunity for you to be able to one, get better in public speaking. Two, make great connections and networking opportunities, and three, just to grow in that way.
